One-Day Retreat Schedule (6 hours, 9 sittings)

You are encouraged to sit the entire retreat. If that is not possible, please enter or exit during a walking period.

  • 9:00 – 9:30 Sit

  • 9:30 – 9:40 Walk

  • 9:40 – 10:10 Sit

  • 10:10 – 10:20 Walk

  • 10:20 – 10:50 Sit

  • 10:50 – 11:00 Walk

  • 11:00 – 11:30 Sit

  • 11:30 – 11:40 Walk

  • 11:40 – 12:10 Sit

  • 12:10 – 12:20 Walk

  • 12:20 – 12:50 Sit

  • 12:50 – 1:00 Walk

  • 1:00 – 1:30 Sit

  • 1:30 – 1:40 Walk

  • 1:40 – 2:10 Sit

  • 2:10 – 2:20 Walk

  • 2:20 – 2:50 Sit

  • 2:50 – 3:00 Chanting (Heart Sutra in English and Great Dharani)

  • 3:00 Circle Talk and informal meal

YMJJ Schedule (for 2 or 3 day retreat)

If you are not able to attend the entire retreat, please arrive during the entry points noted below with *. If you are entering during a “Break,” try to arrive near the end of the break to avoid disturbing people who are resting.

3-day retreats begin on Thursday at 7:00pm and end on Sunday at 4:00pm. 2-day retreats begin on Friday at 7:00pm and end on Sunday at 2:00pm or 4:00pm.

  • *4:45 – 5:00 Four Great Vows & 108 Prostrations

  • 5:15 – 7:30 Sitting (three sittings)

  • 7:40 – 8:00 Breakfast

  • *8:15 – 9:00 Work period

  • *9:00 – 9:30 Break

  • 9:30 – 10:15 Chanting (AM Bell, Homage to Three Jewels, Heart Sutra in Korean)

  • 10:15 – 12:00 Sitting (four sittings)

  • 12:10 Lunch

  • *After lunch – 1:30 Break

  • 1:30 – 4:00 Sitting (four sittings)

  • *4:00 – 5:30 Break

  • 5:30 Dinner

  • *After dinner – 6:30 Break

  • 6:30 Special Chanting

  • 7:00 – 7:30 Regular Chanting

  • 7:30 – 9:30 Sitting (three sittings)

  • 9:30 – 9:40 Chanting & Four Great Vows

  • 9:40 Sleep
